The Dallas Arts District is the largest urban cultural district in the country, with 19 blocks covering 68 acres.

Its $354 million expansion was completed in October 2009. The Margot & Bill Winspear Opera House, Annette Strauss Artist Square, Elaine D. & Charles A. Sammons Park, Dee & Charles Wyly Theater, and AT&T Performing Arts Center enhance the already impressive collection of museums such as the Dallas Museum of Art, Meyerson Symphony Center, Nasher Sculpture Garden and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. We also host a number of science museums including the Perot Museum of Nature and Science with a number of interactive exhibits for the young and old.

Outdoor Recreation

Just down the Margaret Hunt Bridge, you can visit Trinity Groves which has a restaurants, bars, and specialty shops that are sure to entertain. You can even walk along the bridge to enjoy a gorgeous view of the city. 

Also located in the surrounding area is a brand-new development from RedBird that is not only going to attract big businesses and retailers but will be a huge, positive impact on the community. Taking the community and area’s needs, RedBird has worked to completely redesign and expand an old mall to bring a space with two medical facilities, shopping, restaurants and so much more. The expansion also includes newly built apartments that are affordable for the families in the city and there will be a brand-new hotel added to the site as well.

South Dallas

An area rich in history but also on the path of transformation. Current revitalization efforts have shaped South Dallas into an area of diverse attractions, sure to appeal to any type of visitor. Whether you’re looking for entertainment, great food, or a place to take it easy, you’ll be sure to find it in this bustling area. 

The airport is situated in the growing Oak Cliff neighborhood, once a burgeoning district in the early 1900s and now the most established and historic area of the city. The Golf Club of Dallas is a hidden gem in Oak Cliff and is only six minutes from the airport. In fact, Dallas was recently voted one of the Best Golf Cities in America by Golf Digest, boasting more than 200 courses across the metroplex. Travel north and you will find the Bishop Arts District, the city’s cultural hub full of art, entertainment, and electric nightlife. South Dallas is very proud to be the home of The Dallas Zoo, Texas’ oldest zoological park situated on Marsalis Park, only 10 minutes from the airport.

Another notable landmark is Fair Park, which includes over seven museums and six performance venues as well as a number of events that occur through the year including The State Fair which runs for three weeks in the Fall. Visitors can walk the grounds to see the Cotton Bowl stadium and a variety of water features and gardens to enjoy.

Shopping & Dining

If you are looking for a chance to shop-till-you-drop or to dine on the best of the best, Dallas has everything you’re looking for.

Dallas is said to be the birthplace of shopping and there’s no doubt you’ll find everything you’re looking for and more. Neiman Marcus’ flagship store anchors downtown Dallas and other major shopping centers include the Galleria Dallas and NorthPark Center, with many other can’t miss destinations in the surrounding areas should you want to venture further out.

And when it comes to food, look no further! With the most restaurants per capita of any U.S. city, Dallas consistently makes headlines with its cuisine. From four- and five-star restaurants to homegrown eateries and celebrity chefs, you’ll satisfy your tastebuds no matter where you pick to dine. Locations throughout Dallas have won awards from the James Beard Foundation, Zagat®, and Esquire Magazine and have been featured in the New York Times, Southern Living, Food & Wine, among others.

Climate

The weather in Dallas is typically moderate, with very warm summers and cool but comfortable winters.

Dallas experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures reaching their zenith at 100°F (38°C), though in the peak of summer, you can see temps rise higher. But thankfully, you’ll find air conditioning everywhere you go. Winter in Dallas is usually mild and daytime temperatures can reach up to 66°F (19°C) but can dip below freezing. As we like to say around here, if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes!

Education

A significant number of accredited and highly ranked public and private schools serve the children of Dallas.

Dallas ISD’s School for the Talented & Gifted was ranked #13 in the nation by USNews. Dallas also has international, faith-based schools, and special needs schools. Educational opportunities are abound in Dallas, with 25 colleges and universities located within the DFW Metropolitan area, providing an educated workforce with broad-based knowledge and skills. You can visit the prestigious campuses of SMU, UNT, UT Dallas, and other universities that serve our community.

The area is also home to the first Texas public university to offer a four-year Aviation program. With so many options and opportunities, the university presence provides a trained and ample workforce, as well as an overall educated population.

Healthcare

State of the art medical facilities abound in Dallas. Many of the major hospital centers consistently rank among the top in the U.S. Quality health care is easily available, with two dozen hospitals in DFW and over 5,200 direct care physicians, approximately 19,900 registered nurses, and over 1,400 dentists in Dallas County alone.

Sports & Entertainment

The Dallas region is home to five professional sports teams: the Dallas Cowboys (NFL); Dallas Stars (NHL); Dallas Mavericks (NBA); FC Dallas (MLS) and the Texas Rangers (MLB) plus NASCAR & Indy car-racing at Texas Motor Speedway and horse racing at Lone Star Park.

There’s even an e-sports area that hosts our very own Team Envy, who competes in a variety of competitive gaming. DFW hosts some of the most popular sporting events in the nation including championship boxing, NCAA football & basketball, the NBA All-Star Game, and Super Bowl XLV.

From blues to classical and country to rock, Dallas is a musical mecca, where artists, dancers, and musicians flourish. You can find any type of musical genre on any given night of the week in Dallas with a number of locations offering live music, you can jam any time!
